Travel Health Insurance

With the rising fuel prices, traveling abroad is becoming more expensive. You’ve already forked out your savings for a much-awaited overseas vacation, paying for any unexpected accident or illness while overseas may be more than you can afford. Though you may have excellent health coverage at home, your health care provider may not cover you on your trip overseas. You may need to purchase short-term health insurance designed specifically to cover travel. Short term medical travel insurance is a type of insurance policy that protects you and your family against unexpected illness or accidents which can happen during your overseas vacation. The coverage period may be anywhere from 5 days to 3 years. Medical coverage usually includes doctor’s consultations, intensive care, emergency room services, hospitalization, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation and coverage for accidental death and dismemberment, although coverage depends on the plan and the insurance provider. If your trip involves activities such as jet skiing, scuba diving, mountaineering, etc., you may also need to add a hazardous sports or extreme sports rider.
