Terrorism Travel Insurance — Part II
Insurance companies have very specific rules regarding what circumstances are covered under terrorism travel insurance coverage. For instance, one particular insurer pays for a cancellation if a terrorist attack occurs in the city to which you are traveling within 30 days of your trip. If this occurs and you cancel your trip, the carrier will reimburse you for your airline tickets and nonrefundable hotel costs. If you are already traveling, the carrier will pay the extra cost to get you back home. You can only recoup the cost of your trip if the city involved in the attack is on your itinerary and a terrorist event actually occurs. The threat of terrorism is not usually covered by terrorism travel insurance even if the threat causes major delays and cancellations to your flight plans.
